Diagnosis and treatment of local and advanced (oligometastatic and metastatic) prostate cancer

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the EBU training “DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF LOCAL AND ADVANCED (OLIGOMETASTATIC AND METASTATIC) PROSTATE CANCER”, which will take place on 13th – 16th of May 2019 in Vilnius, Lithuania at the National Cancer Institute, NCI conference hall and Oncourology operating room.

The conference will bring together professionals, leading researchers and doctors of oncourology, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, to discuss the diagnosis and treatment options of local and metastatic prostate cancer. The invited guests include the well-known Prof. A.Merseburger (urologist, chairman of the Department of Urology, University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Lubeck, Germany), Prof. J.A.Shalken (Research Director Urology, Radboud University Medical Centre, The Netherlands) and P.Baum (urologist, The North Estonia Medical Centre, Estonia). EBU training duration is 2 + 2 days. MDT meetings will be held every day to discuss the treatment plans for 5-10 patients with local and advanced prostate cancer. Guests can choose a cycle of their preference (1st-2nd days or 3rd-4th days) or participate in both courses.

Two of the training days (1st and 2nd days of the event) are dedicated to discuss the standards of diagnosis and treatment of local prostate cancer. During the lectures, there will be two satellite events. The first one is prepared for nursing training: assistance in surgeries, preparation for prostate biopsy and postoperative care aspects. The second one is organized for doctors with video streaming from the operating room: laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with nerve fiber preservation using special NBI lighting; application of DEX in laparoscopic operations (robotic hand).

The diagnosis and treatment options of metastatic prostate cancer will be reviewed on the next 2 days of EBU training (3rd and 4th days of the event). During the lectures, the diagnostic standards of metastatic prostate cancer, chemotherapy treatment of advanced PC, bone metastasis treatment by Radium 223will be presented. On the first day of training course, guests from Sweden and Estonia will give a presentation for nurses: aspects of assistance in the operating room, preparation for prostate biopsy and postoperative care. Demonstration II. Also, there will be a live video available from the oncourological operating room presenting laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with removal of pelvic lymph nodes and additional nerve fiber detection with NBI; robotic hand (DEX). The fourth day is dedicated to present and discuss the treatment of advanced prostate cancer by radiotherapy. Also, there will be a satellite event during which a guest from Italy will give a lecture on diagnosis and treatment of post-operative urinary incontinence. Presentation of clinical cases and live demonstration from the operating room will be performed.
